CTM’s Cambridge office was reconfigured to better reflect the company’s brand identity while improving day-to-day functionality for staff and visiting clients. The refurbishment focused on strengthening first impressions, enhancing spatial flow, and creating a more professional and cohesive working environment.
Design Approach
A key priority was reinforcing CTM’s brand presence, particularly at the entrance where clients are welcomed. The reception area was redesigned to prominently feature the company’s signature colours and visual identity, establishing a confident and recognisable first impression.
Internally, the layout was reworked to improve functionality and spatial efficiency. Existing walls were removed and replaced with a combination of half-height and full-height glazed partitions, maintaining natural light flow while creating clearer departmental zoning.
One of the former shower/toilet rooms was converted into a dedicated kitchen area, separating breakout space from primary work zones and improving overall circulation.
Furniture layouts were optimised to maximise usability, and additional booth seating was introduced to provide flexible areas for informal meetings and staff downtime. The tech workshop was also expanded to increase operational capacity, alongside upgrades to building security systems to enhance safety and access control.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Our involvement included obtaining and reviewing supplier quotations, liaising with contractors and supporting procurement to ensure works remained aligned with budget and programme. I attended site during key delivery stages to assist with overseeing installations, monitoring progress and helping ensure elements were built and finished in accordance with the design intent.
We managed the planning process required for the conversion of the existing WC/shower room into a new kitchen facility, helping coordinate documentation and communication to ensure compliance prior to construction works.
